Sound artist, curator and researcher based in Budapest.
Working across experimental sound, artistic research,
and international cultural collaborations.
Orsolya Kaincz is a Budapest-based sound artist working across experimental composition, artistic research, and transdisciplinary approaches to listening. As a self-taught musician, her practice draws from free improvisation and electroacoustic experimentation, alongside conceptual and open-form compositions.
Drawing from electronic sound, field recordings, and granular processes, she develops compositions through processes of deconstruction, transformation, and spatial movement. Approaching sound as a plastic material, her performances are built from interactions between timbre, texture, and microstructures, giving rise to perceptual phenomena and listening experiences that unfold between structure and ambiguity.
Her artistic practice also extends into theory and research through projects centred on listening, including Listening as Method, an international collaboration exploring listening as an epistemic and political practice.
