Drawing on the tradition of graphic notation, the artists created a photographic score that performers interpret as a visual stimulus rather than a system of fixed instructions. Instead of reading conventional notation, musicians respond to the images through sound, translating visual impressions into musical gestures. This approach opens a space for experimentation and improvisation, as the score does not prescribe duration, instrumentation, or specific modes of performance.
The photographic compositions were constructed from materials commonly associated with construction and industrial environments, including plexiglass, metal, styrofoam, raw wood, foam, plastic cable ducts, and expanding foam. Particular attention was given to form, texture, material qualities, and spatial relationships. The physical presence of these materials is further intensified through lighting, compositional tensions, and accidental forms emerging during digital post-production.
The resulting work, konstrukcio_DSC9660.jpg on vinyl, was performed by György Bartók, Bálint Bolcsó, Nikolaus Gerszewski, Orsolya Kaincz, Nóra Krokovay, Rozi Mákó, and Kornél Vajsz. Alongside traditional instruments, the ensemble employed electronics and various objects as sound-producing tools. The interpretative framework developed during rehearsals provided sufficient structure while allowing performers to navigate freely through the abstract visual landscape of the score, generating a collective sonic response to the photographic image.
